Fancy some delicious food at Glencairn Inn, son?

Lismore Castle. The Dook's gaff.
Lismore Castle

Lismore is a picturesque little town in west Waterford. It's worth a detour, since it is the location of one of the most impressive castles in Ireland. St. Carthages Church - God's gaff.(It is not open to the public, but it's gardens normally are in the summer).

Lismore is 36 miles from Cork city, 40 from Waterford city, 90 miles from Rosslare and 140 miles from Dublin. Nestled on the river Blackwater, a couple of miles from the Knockmealdown mountains.

Other attractions in and around Lismore are the "Towers" - two impressive nineteenth century follies built by a young man by the name of Keily, who didn't consult his accountant first. They are situated about a mile outside the town on the Ballyduff road, north of the river.Man, bike and shopper

It's worth getting lost around the roads of west Waterford. Take a spin out from Lismore along the old Youghal road that swings down along the west bank of the River Blackwater. You'll find magnificent views and a laid back calmness. That's one reason the area is so popular with anglers.
